Then, Corban explains how to get on the table safely before leaving the room to let you get comfortable.

When the session ends, she’ll step out again so you can get dressed. Once you’re dressed, you’ll meet her at the desk for payment for the session, book your next appointment, and be recommended any relevant self-care techniques.

Are health fund rebates offered?

Yes! All sports massage treatments are eligible for health fund rebates. Corban uses a HICAPS system; please bring your private health insurance card so it can be swiped and you can claim your benefit on the spot. This means you only pay the gap that your insurer does not cover.

For details on your specific coverage, please check with your health fund.

What type of massage is right for me?

It depends on what your body needs.

If it’s your first time, please arrive 5–10 minutes early so you can discuss your goals, any areas of concern, and what you’re hoping to get out of the session. Based on that conversation, Corban will tailor the treatment to suit you.

If you’re unsure which type of massage to book, just select the session duration that suits your schedule. From there, she will customise the approach to make sure you get the most out of your time.

Do I have to be naked?

Of course not.

The most essential part of any massage is that you’re comfortable. Some clients undress fully for their sessions, some wear underwear, and others wear shorts. The Recharge Room is flexible and can work around nearly anything. No matter what you choose to wear, you’ll be under a towel during your massage for modesty and warmth. Breasts and genitals must remain covered.

Does massage therapy hurt?

No, a massage shouldn’t hurt. Even deep tissue work should feel relieving, not painful. If something causes discomfort, that’s your body asking to ease up.

There is a sweet spot between pressure and relief. Many clients describe it as “hurts so good.” If anything ever feels too intense, just let Corban know. The best results come from working with your body, not against it.

Is it normal to be sore after a massage?

It varies from person to person, but mild soreness after a massage can be normal, especially if deeper pressure was used. It may feel like muscle fatigue, similar to after a workout or tenderness in specific areas. This can happen due to pressure intensity or dehydration.

If you feel sore after your session, let Corban know before your next appointment so she can adjust your treatment. In the meantime, you can manage soreness by:

  • Applying heat to the area
  • Using a topical pain reliever like Voltaren or Tiger Balm
  • Taking an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory
When should massages be avoided?

If you’re feeling unwell, it’s best to reschedule or cancel, preferably with at least 24 hours’ notice. This includes illnesses like COVID-19, the flu, or stomach viruses. It’s important to protect both your therapist and other clients.

Massage may not be suitable for certain medical conditions. Check with your healthcare provider before booking if you have:

  • Blood clots
  • Kidney or liver issues
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • A high-risk pregnancy

Massage should also be avoided on areas with recent injuries, such as broken bones, sprains, strains, bruises, or inflammation. Always let Corban know about any recent injuries before your session.

How often should you get a massage?

It depends on your goals, how your body responds to treatment, and your budget.

Most people benefit from a massage about once a month, but others may need more frequent sessions for pain management or recovery. Corban can help you find a schedule that works best for your needs.

Can I talk during my massage? And do I have to listen to music?

You’re welcome to talk during your session, but you’ll often get the most benefit by staying quiet and relaxed. That said, always speak up if you feel discomfort, need an adjustment, want more or less pressure, or want to give feedback; especially during deeper treatments like sports or remedial massage, where communication is key.

As for the music, it’s totally up to you. You don’t have to listen to the music being played unless you want to. You can choose your own playlist, podcast, or audiobook. Just ask, and Corban will find something to play that helps you relax.

Is a massage just for relaxation, or can it help with pain relief?

Massage is great for relaxation, but it also offers many other benefits. It can help reduce chronic muscle aches and pains, ease tension, improve circulation, lower blood pressure, reduce headaches, support breathing, improve mobility, and promote better sleep. Massage can also help manage stress, anxiety, and depression.

Many clients find that massage therapy provides relief from conditions like sciatica, chronic headaches, lower back pain, and frozen shoulder. However, some pain may be due to underlying health issues where massage might not offer long-term relief. Everyone responds differently, but most people experience some level of pain relief. Even an hour of relief can make a meaningful difference.

Is it okay to exercise right after a massage?

Yes, it’s okay to exercise after a massage, but most people prefer to stay relaxed.

Is there parking available?

Yes! There is limited off-street parking available, and there is plenty of street parking nearby. However, please be aware that street parking times do change during stadium events, so be sure to check the signs before parking.

You can check out all the upcoming events at Suncorp Stadium and download a copy of the event schedule right here.
